Description

This module will explore the role of health care workers in addressing the health impacts of air pollution, and provide concrete examples both at the clinical and public health level. It will provide the summary of main health messages, with some in-depth considerations on physical activity, the use of personal respirators and air filters as well as discuss behavioral change. It will address advocacy principles, actions and community engagement for clean air and present some available WHO tools and campaigns.

By the end of this module, you will:

  • identify individuals at higher risk of negative health effects from exposure to air pollution;
  • list and communicate health messages to individuals and communities on how to minimize exposure to air pollution;
  • describe the key role of health care workers as clean air advocates in the (health) community.
