Description
The report by the Programme Coordinating Centre of the International Cooperative Programme on Assessment and Monitoring of Air Pollution Effects on Forests (ICP Forests) details recent findings on the impact of air pollution on European forests. Despite significant changes since the 1980s, air pollution, particularly nitrogen deposition and tropospheric ozone, continues to affect forest ecosystems, causing reduced growth and increased vulnerability to climate change and other stressors. The report highlights ongoing monitoring efforts, scientific research, and cooperation between various countries and organizations to address these environmental challenges.
